Conservative Hypocrisy

I was listening to NPR this morning on my way into work. As always, the conservative republicans were complaining about Obama’s agenda. They feel that their religious freedom is being taken away and that the government is trying to control their personal lives. Why do they feel this way? Because Obama made it so all insurance providers must provide free access to birth control.

The only thing I could think about was “then why is it okay for them to say who does and doesn’t get married?” The conservatives prevented my boyfriend and I from saying “I do” whether we wanted to or not. Obama isn’t telling conservatives to use birth control, they’re just making it accessible for those who want it!

The way I see it, it’s okay for conservatives to take something away from people who want it but it’s not okay for Obama to give things to people who need it.

Get real.

I’ve been crafting a table together… and it’s made completely from used pallets (with the exception of the screws)!!! It’s sturdy, it’s visually appealing, and it’s FREE!

Finding pallets is easy. Drive around some of your local industrial areas - most of the small industries have pallets sitting outside for people to take or to throw away. The large companies will recycle them but it’s cheaper for small companies to just toss em’.

Now you can take the pallets apart - piece by piece. Once you have enough wood, start stacking the pieces - one on top of another - so you can screw them together. For this table, one screw could go through two pieces of wood threading to secure it to the other piece of wood. Make sure that one edge of all the pieces of wood line up so you have a smooth surface to set your coffee onto! For this table, I sank the legs in so they’re smooth with the surface of the table (see the bottom left image). You can make the table as long or as short as you’d like, wide or narrow as you’d like. You can cut off the ends so it’s a perfect rectangle (without the jagged ends). You can even plane the surface and finish it so it’s waterproof and more finished.

Happy crafting!!
